Colossians 2:13-15

2:13-15 And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross.He disarmed the rulers and authoritiesand put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him.

1. What do you understand about “Cancel Culture” and how has it changed the way people interact on a social or political level?
2. Do you know of past or present instances where Cancel Culture has affected the Great Commission and the freedom to preach biblically on topics such as abortion, sexual orientation, and marriage?
3. Canceling or rejecting the position of another has been around since the dawn of creation. Read Genesis 3. Identify and list instances of one ‘being’ canceling the directives of another.
4. Can you think of an instance in Scripture that predates the Fall of Man in Genesis where a creature made proclamations with the intention to cancel its creator? Hint: Read Isaiah 14:12-14
5. A skeptic of the Christian faith and the Bible could make a point that God and Satan are in a cosmic chess match where Satan makes a move forcing God to always make defensive countermoves. Would you agree or disagree, and can you make a biblical argument for or against such a claim?
6. The passage from Colossians 2:13-15 gives the example of God “canceling the record of debt” on behalf of every sinner. Can you think of other occurrences in Scripture where God has cancelled the plans of His enemies both human (natural) and supernatural?
7. According to 2 Timothy 2:3,4; to what degree should a disciple of Jesus Christ be involved with fighting against Cancel Culture in America? What should our biblical response be? Consider John 17:14,15; 1 Timothy 2:1,2; Ephesians 4:15; 1 Peter 3:15.
