First, no amount of words can express my gratitude for knowing I will appear before the Bema seat and not the Great White Throne. That fact is solely because of God’s sovereign grace and mercy. As I consider what the bible teaches concerning the evaluation we all will face, I’m thinking of what factors may come into play concerning rewards or loss of rewards. Jesus taught on the importance of stewardship, which I have used in my SS class, the 3 t’s of stewardship, time, talent and treasure. I see that as interconnected and an integral part of the discipleship process. This involves more than just serving but being a servant and living sacrifice, Romans 12:1. I wonder if some of the apathy and indifference in many believers and in the church in America today is the result of waiting for God to open up the door for the spectacular, the miracle, that which they think will bring about revival. I am convinced the Lord’s rewards will be given to those who were faithful every day in the ordinary, mundane and even the monotonous service with a Godly attitude, pure motives and proper perspective. Consider Col. 3:23,24, “Whatever you do, work heartily as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.” This connects with 1 Cor. 15:58. Another key factor is surrender through the Holy Spirit to the Lordship of Christ.

  4. These referenced passages and questions to consider are powerful, sobering, challenging, and so relevant whether from the beginning of the fall, through today, to tomorrow, etc.
We’ve discussed this in my Disciple Group, and I believe it can’t be studied enough.
We must purpose in our hearts the love of our Saviour and extend it to others. If we do this, by nourishing ourselves with the Word, we will be able to share that nourishment with others.
Luke 15:10 “I say unto you, there joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.”
