What is a Typical Sunday at Harvest Like?
Well, come casual, come dressed up, just come! At Harvest we love to say that Jesus will meet you just as you are but, by His grace, he won’t leave you there. We hope every person who comes to Harvest will leave a little bit (or a lot!) changed from when they arrived!

Harvest does not have a large parking lot, but parking is plentiful on a Sunday morning across the street in the municipal lot. As you enter our building, you’ll most likely be heartily welcomed before you even reach the doors to the sanctuary! There you’ll be officially greeted and given our weekly prayer requests and calendar.

You’re welcome to sit anywhere you feel comfortable, and you’re sure to find a new friend seated next to you.
We begin our Worship Service with announcements – which are opportunities to serve and to fellowship – a call to worship, and a short prayer for the Lord to help our pastor bring God’s Word accurately and with power, and that Jesus would be glorified in all we do.

After that introduction, we move into a time of praise and worship, usually three or four songs led by our Worship Team. An offering is received at the end of our worship time.

After worship, we welcome visitors, dismiss our children to the Sunday School and Nursery, and enter into a time of prayer. Each week we lift up one country from around the world where Christians are being persecuted. We then pray over any prayer requests that have arisen throughout the week from our family, friends, and loved ones. Ongoing prayer requests are printed out and given to the flock as they enter the Sanctuary each week.

After prayer, we settle in for a message from God’s Word. Often, a brother or sister in the congregation will read a portion of Scripture which corresponds to Pastor Gene’s teaching for that week.
As he begins that message, fasten your seat belt! Be ready to be challenged and inspired by the unfiltered Truth of God’s Word. Listening to his sermons has been lovingly described as ‘taking a sip from a firehose.’

Pastor Gene ends the service with an invitation for those who have not come to know Jesus to do so by ‘faith alone in Christ alone.’ Then perhaps a few closing thoughts, a benediction and we’re sent out. We came into worship; we go out to serve!

On the first Sunday of each month, we celebrate the Lord’s Supper at Harvest. Prior to the message we read our Confession of Faith together as a congregation to remind us of our beliefs (the Confession is in our by-laws which can be found on our website under the ‘How We’re Governed’ tab.) When we celebrate the Lord’s Table, the children return to the sanctuary to join us.

After the worship service many of us gather upstairs in the fellowship hall for coffee and goodies. It’s a wonderful time to get to know one another and make new friends. Guaranteed, you will feel welcomed and a part of the Harvest family!

Prayerfully, you’ll leave encouraged, refreshed, and eager to return!

Other specifics – such as our pre-service Adult Sunday School, our Children’s Sunday School, our Nursery and our Mother’s Room – are described in detail under the ‘Ministries’ tab of this website.
